World Fest '96 will feature food, crafts and entertainment from around the world (Released: 4/4/96)

STORRS, Conn. -- The University of Connecticut s culturally diverse community will celebrate World Fest 96" on Saturday, April 13 at the ROTC hangar.
Eighteen different organizations will participate in the fest, which will feature food, crafts and entertainment from around the world from noon to 5 p.m. Numerous performances will take place throughout the day, including a Portuguese folk dance, an American line dance and traditional dances by the Chinese, Greek, Indian and Italian organizations. The performances are scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. and last through 4:30.
Various food dishes will be available, such as Chinese dumplings and egg rolls, Polish candies and pastries, Italian pizza, Indian rice, Russian tea and much more.
More than 2,000 people from campus and the nearby community attend the fest each year. This year there will be a competition among the organizations that participate in the fest for best cultural display, food presentation, performance and ethnic clothing.
