STORRS, Conn. -- Celebrate a multi-cultural holiday season at the University of Connecticut's Festival of Lights on Saturday, Dec. 7.
Holiday songs, crafts, refreshments and storytelling will help usher in the season marking Christmas, Chanukah, Three Kings Day and Kwanzaa. The upcoming Ramadan and Chinese New Year also will be represented.
Festival of Lights will take place from 1-5 p.m. on the Student Union Mall and in the lobby of the Student Union. UConn President Philip E. Austin and Mansfield Mayor Fred Cazel will light the holiday tree at 4 p.m.
In addition to the craft sale and storytelling, the main stage will feature the Goodwin School Chorus at 1 p.m., the Native American Cultural Society at 1:30 p.m., the E.O. Smith High School Chamber Choir at 2 p.m. and the children's band Kuckoo Revue from 2:30-4 p.m.
Santa and Mrs. Claus and the Husky dog also will make an appearance, and the University Chorus will lead songs.
While on campus, visitors can stop by the Holiday Barn Sale for great gift ideas.
Festival of Lights is sponsored by the Office of Community and Campus Relations, the Department of Student Activities and Union Programs, the Town of Mansfield and the Student Union Board of Governors.
