Science program will draw 250 8th grade girls in March (Released: 2/29/96)

STORRS, Conn. -- More than 250 8th-grade girls will get a chance to learn about science, engineering and math on March 15 at the University of Connecticut. The girls will participate in a program called "Multiplying Your Options," which brings female professionals from science, engineering and mathematics together with middle-school girls. Along with being able to meet and talk with these professionals, the girls will participate in a variety of interactive workshops and presentations.

The program runs from 8:30 am until 1:15 pm. Female scientists and engineers on hand will include representatives from United Technologies, Pratt & Whitney, Proctor & Gamble, NYNEX, Raytheon, Phoenix Home Life Mutual Insurance Company, Travelers Insurance Co., The State Police Forensic Science Laboratory, Northeast Utilities, The Connecticut Departments of Transportation and Environmental Protection, The U.S. Air Force National Guard, Wesleyan University and UConn.
