STORRS, Conn. -- Perfection: Moral and Immoral is the subject of the fourth annual Ruth Evelyn Parcells Memorial Lecture on March 29 at the University of Connecticut.

Sponsored by UConn s philosophy department, the lecture will be given by Shelly Kagan of Yale University at 4 p.m. in the Doris and Simon Konover Auditorium, of the Thomas J. Dodd Research Center. A reception in the Dodd Center lounge will follow the lecture.

Kagan is a Henry R. Luce Professor of Social Thought and Ethics at Yale University. He earned a doctoral degree at Princeton in 1982, and taught at the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Illinois at Chicago.

He is the author of the book The Limits of Morality, (Oxford University Press, 1989).

The Evelyn Parcells Memorial Lecture was established by family and friends in memory of Ruth Parcells Foote (1919-1992). Foote was a graduate of UConn s Class of 1942. The series honors her dedication to righteousness in everyday practices and brings distinguished thinkers to speak to general audiences at the university on current moral issues.
