World Fest '97 will feature food, crafts and entertainment from around the world (Released: 4/7/97)

STORRS, Conn. -- The University of Connecticut's culturally diverse community will celebrate World Fest '97 from noon - 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 12. World Fest '97 will take place at the ROTC hangar.

Twenty one organizations will participate in the event, which will feature food, crafts and entertainment from around the world. Many performances will take place throughout the day, including Chinese children's songs, Greek music and traditional dances by the Filipino, Indian, Greek and Italian organizations. The performances are scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. and last through 4:30 p.m.

Various food dishes will be available, such as Chinese dumplings; Polish pastries, stuffed cabbage and kielbasa; fresh Italian bread and lasagna; Japanese rice cakes; and much more.

World Fest has been a UConn tradition for the past 28 years. More than 2,000 people from campus and the nearby community attend the fest each year. This year Clown Bella will be giving away balloons to children.
