Schedule for Dec. 6 Festival of Lights (Released: 12/2/97)

STORRS, Conn. -- The second annual Festival of Lights will be held Saturday, Dec. 6, from 1 to 5 p.m. in the University of Connecticut’s Student Union Building.

The Festival of Lights is the celebration of all December and January holidays, and is sponsored by the University, the Town of Mansfield, and the UConn Student Union Board of Governors.

The festival will feature singers, dancers, arts and crafts, face painting, cookie decorating, photo buttons, and Santa. The grand finale, featuring the Voices of Freedom gospel choir, will take place at 4:30 p.m.

There will be plenty of parking available on Fairfield Road and in the Grad Field parking lot across from Gampel Pavilion. Shuttle buses will run from the Student Union to Horsebarn Hill for the 13th Annual Holiday Barn Sale, between 1 and 5 p.m. (The barn sale runs Dec. 6 and 7.)

The festival is open to all members of the University community and the public. Scheduled events are as follows:

1:30 p.m. Mansfield Middle School Chamber Orchestra (directed by Michael Carbonneau)

2 p.m. Mansfield Elementary Schools with Ricardo Moraga and Seôora Siddons

2:20 p.m. Laotian folk dance - Killingly and Brooklyn Middle Schools

2:30 p.m. Ancient and Traditional holiday festival - Carrie Crampton

3 p.m. Pete’s Holiday Magic Show

3:30 p.m. Bagpipes and a traditional Irish Christmas story

4 p.m. Singasauras - Bruce John of the Kuckoo Review
