STORRS, Conn.— A presentation entitled “Hidden Under Our Hats” hopes to raise awareness
of brain tumors and brain tumor research will be held on Monday, March 21 at 6 p.m.,
in the Centennial Alumni Center at the University of Connecticut.
Dr. Hilary Onyiuke, chief of neurosurgery at the UConn Health Center, will speak
on the epidemiology, clinical presentation and surgical treatment of brain tumors.
Dr. Henry Smilowitz, a brain researcher, will speak on current research strategies
for brain tumor therapy.
These lectures will coincide with the “Hidden Under Our Hats” exhibit
that will be on display at the alumni center through Thursday, March 24 between
8 a.m. and 5 p.m. It is a freestanding display of 2,000 hats from those people whose
lives have been affected by brain tumors.
This event is co-sponsored by the UConn Alumni Association (UCAA), the UCAA
Greater University Chapter and the UConn Health Center (UCHC).
