Commencement 2008

Commencement weekend was May 10-11, when 11 of the University’s 14 schools and collegescelebrated the graduation of students in the Class of 2008. The three other schools – law, medicine, and dental medicine – will celebrate their students’ achievements May 18.

This year, nearly 7,000 students will receive associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, juris doctor, dental or medical degrees during the events, the first time the University has held separate ceremonies for all the schools and colleges.

The speaker at the College of Liberal Arts ^ Sciences ceremony on Sunday, May 11, was Rebecca Lobo, Class of 1995, member of the 1995 NCAA championship women's basketball team, and member of the UConn Board of Trustees.

New Vice President for Health Affairs and Dean of the School of Medicine - May 8, 2008

 

President Michael J. Hogan has announced that Cato T. Laurencin, M.D., Ph.D.,will lead the University’s Health Center, as UConn’s new Vice President for Health Affairs and Dean of the School of Medicine. He will hold the Van Dusen Distinguished Endowed Chair and will be a Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. more info
