North and South Parking Garage Maintenance - Summer 2009

As a result of the inspections of our parking garages in November of 2008, preventative maintenance is scheduled to occur this summer. This maintenance can only be performed during the summer months so we ask for your understanding and patience.  Please be aware of the following dates and parking changes:

North Parking Garage

The North Parking Garage will be closed from May 11th through August 8th, 2009
North Garage permit holders are offered the following options during this summer construction period (May 11th through August 8th, 2009):

• Park in the South Garage (your keycard will allow you to access the South Garage during this period)

EMPLOYEES

• Park in an Area 2 lot for a reduced rate (your garage key card will be inactive during this period if you choose this option)
• Area 2 permit costs are calculated on a sliding scale based on the employee’s salary
• Costs range from $2.88 per pay period to $6.35 per pay period
• The construction will cover 8 pay periods

If you choose to park in Area 2, you must email the Parking Services office at parkinggarages@uconn.edu no later than Friday, May 8th. 

STUDENTS

• Park in any student lot, except X-Lot, for a reduced rate (your garage key card will be inactive during this period if you choose this option)
• You will be refunded the difference in cost between a garage and commuter permit, pro-rated for three months ($59.49)

If you choose to park in a student lot, you must email the Parking Services office at parkinggarages@uconn.edu no later than Friday, May 8th.

South Parking Garage

Parking in the South Garage will be open during the summer months but on a limited basis. The repairs are scheduled to occur in two phases.

Phase I
The top three floors and 5th floor entrance will be closed beginning May 11th . When work is completed, these floors will be re-opened and Phase II will begin.

Phase II (immediately following completion of Phase I)
The lower three floors and entrance/exit off of Stadium Road will be closed and parking will be available on the top three floors, accessible only via the fifth floor entrance/exit.

Other Construction

Additionally, there will be minor construction in parking lot 8, behind McMahon.  Approximately ten spaces will be blocked off on separate dates.  We will keep you advised of the dates and locations of the spaces.  Please remember employees are allowed to park in student lots, except X-Lot, from May 11 through August 14, 2009.  In order to accommodate the above construction, employees and GA’s with Area 3 permits will need to remain in Area 3 this summer.

Visitor Parking

In order to accommodate our permitted parking patrons, there will be limited visitor parking in the South Garage from May 11th through August 8th, 2009.
